Snowshoe Clinic - Saturday, January 21st - 2:00 pm
Come to Buena Vista County Park and try out snow shoeing. This program is free of charge. Registration required by Thursday, January 19th at 4:00 PM. Class size limited to 20 people. Call the Conservation Office at 712-295-7985 to reserve your spot.

Owl Prowl - Friday, February 3rd - 7:00 pm
Join the BV naturalist to learn about these fascinating nocturnal creatures. We will then take a short hike to attempt to call them. This program is free of charge. Reservations are required by Wednesday, February 1st by 4:00 PM. Reserve your spot by calling the Conservation Office at 712-295-7985.

Star Lab - Saturday, February 25th - 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm
Learn about the stars and their stories in a portable planetarium. This program is presented to all the elementary students in the county during February and March. This is your opportunity to see the stars up close. We will meet in the small gym at the Albert City Elementary School. This program is free of charge. Class size is limited. There are two classes a 1:00 PM and a 3:00 PM class. Register by Thursday, February 23rd at 4:00 PM and let us know which class time you would like to attend. Call the Conservation Office at 712-295-7985 to reserve you spot.

Eggs - Saturday, March 24th - 2:00 PM
Learn about different types of eggs and the animals that hatch from them. A few baby animals will also make an appearance. Register by Thursday, March 22nd at 4:00 PM. Call the Conservation Office at 712-295-7985 to register. Program will be held in the community room in the courthouse annex on Richland Drive (next to Sheriff's Dept).

Frog Chorus - Saturday, May 5th - 7:30 PM
Frogs are calling all over Iowa, have you heard? Come out to Sturchler Pit Saturday night to learn the different frogs of Iowa and their calls. There may be a short hike. Register by Thursday, May 3rd at 4:00 PM.

Fishing Tournament - Saturday, June 2nd - 9:00 AM
If you are between the ages of 6 – 15 and enjoy fishing come on out to Gustafson Park for the annual Buena Vista County Conservation fishing contest. There are two age divisions: 6 -10 year olds and 11 -15 year olds. First and second place prizes will be awarded for both age divisions for the heaviest single fish and for the heaviest stringer of three fish caught that day. Participants ages 6 -10 must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations are required by Thursday, May 31st. Please reserve your spot by calling the Conservation Office at 712-295-7985.

Terrific Turtles - Friday, June 15th - 7:00 PM
Iowa is home to many different species of turtles. Stop by South Cove Park to learn a few interesting facts about Iowa turtles. Live turtles will also make an appearance. You won't want to miss out! Reservations are required by Thursday, June 14th at 4:00 PM. Call the Conservation Office at 712-295-7985 to reserve your spot.

Slithering Snakes - Saturday, June 30th - 2:00 PM
Come out and spend the afternoon at Sturchler Pit. Learn about Iowa's 27 species of snakes. There will be live snakes for viewing and touching if you wish. Reservations are required by Friday, June 29th at 4 PM. Call the Conservation Office at 712-295-7985 to reserve your spot.
